Does Stitcher directly support Camera RAW images?

No, Stitcher does not support direct importing of Camera RAW images. Camera RAW images are not really image files, they are a collection of sensor data from your camera.
In addition to this, each camera model and manufacturer usually produces its own specific kind of RAW format files. As such, they need to be “developed” into a regular image file before they can be used by most third party applications. Shooting your pictures in RAW format is, however, recommended for maximum image quality and flexibility when looking for professional results.
You can process RAW images into standard image formats such as TIFF or JPG with dedicated applications such as Adobe Photoshop CS / CS2, Pixmantec RawShooter, or Apple Aperture among others.
