The render quits before the end of the process and no file is created

It could be a memory problem if the render resolution is too high. If you do a TIFF render, you should check the 'Use strip' option in the 'Image options' Tab of the Render window. You should try also to reduce the size of the image cache (at 0%) in Preferences > Memory to leave more free RAM for the render.
